Counselling for Reconnection & Empowerment

Online & In Person Counselling – Brighton & Hove UK

Are you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just unsure of who you are anymore? Do you feel there’s a struggle between your many roles?

I can support you to overcome burnout, manage stress and the mental load by learning how trust yourself, access self-care without guilt and enjoy life again.

My name is Maddy. I have a deep interest in all relationships, and particularly in the physical and emotional journey of being a parent or caregiver. I am committed to being part of a world where we are all valued, respected, and empowered to succeed and recognise that women often face unique challenges – social, cultural, and structural – that can make this journey difficult.

Sometimes the hardest part is reaching out. You can email or call me directly, whichever feels easier.

I offer a warm, inclusive space, where all parts of your identity — including gender, sexuality and neurodiversity — are welcomed and respected.

I am an experienced relational counsellor offering face to face and online therapy for individuals in Brighton & Hove

I work with mothers and women navigating their identity, relationships and experience of matrescence. You may love your child deeply, yet feel overwhelmed, lost, or unlike yourself. Perhaps your relationships feel strained, or you find yourself reacting in ways you don’t fully understand.

Many women are surprised by the emotional and psychological impact of motherhood—not just in the early days, but across the whole journey of caring for others. I offer a space where you can begin to make sense of these experiences—without judgement, pressure, or expectation.

I specialise in supporting women through the ongoing transition of motherhood and caregiving, sometimes known as matrescence—the profound emotional, psychological, and identity shift that can unfold over time. This might include feelings of anxiety, resentment, guilt, disconnection, or a sense that you’ve lost who you once were.

How I work

I practice therapeutic counselling for adults, which focuses on exploring how your past relationships such as childhood or more recent past relationships might be continuing to affect you as an adult today. This can often happen without us being fully aware that these past patterns of learning and influence are ongoing.

Whilst working together we may touch on:

  • Events in your past and what sense you made of them.
  • The story of your past and how you were brought up.
  • Your current ways of relating to others and what these may mean.
  • Your internal world and how it feels inside.
  • Dreams and fantasies.

I am a fully qualified and insured Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I adhere to its ethical framework.
