FAQ

It’s natural to come to therapy with questions, and you don’t need to have everything figured out before we begin. Here are some useful ones to start with, and please know you’re always welcome to bring your own into our sessions, where we can explore them together at your own pace.

How many therapy sessions will I need?

There is no set number, everyone is different, and this is something we will decide together in the initial session. I am happy to work open-ended or to a set number of sessions. But whatever you choose, we will have regular reviews.

Do I have to come to Counselling every week?

Counselling, works best when we can meet regularly because it allows you to build trust to feel safe and relaxed enough to talk with me honestly.

How confidential are the sessions?

I am a BACP registered member and adhere to their ethical framework which means that what we discuss stays in the room.

However, I have regular meetings with my supervisor, where my work is discussed to ensure I’m working ethically and safely. My supervisor is also a member of a professional body, so confidentiality is maintained within the professional relationship.

Confidentiality may have to be breached if I feel you or someone else is at risk from harm, in which case I will discuss this with you first.
